Hosted services measured against their own open releases

These entries cover the two-track case: a vendor that publishes weights and also sells a hosted service, where the hosted version is not the version in the repository. As of 2026-09-12.

Fig. 1 The arrangement is ordinary. What matters is that the two tracks are not the same model, and the repository rarely says so.

The arrangement is entirely reasonable and rarely stated plainly. Running inference costs money, so the current generation stays behind an interface while an older one is released to build goodwill and an ecosystem.

The consequence for a buyer is concrete. Benchmarks published against the hosted version do not describe the downloadable one, and a team that plans a self-hosted pipeline from a demo of the service is planning against different weights.

Each entry records what the vendor says about the relationship between the two, which is often nothing at all. Where a version number appears on one side and not the other, that asymmetry is the entry.
