Sending commercial use away, or answering it
Stable Video Diffusion is tagged stable-video-diffusion-community and directs commercial use to a separate licence page. Cosmos Predict 2.5 carries its publisher's own licence and states on the card that the models are commercially usable. As of 2026-09-22.

1The same size, the same shape, one extra step
Both releases are around two billion parameters and both carry a licence the vendor wrote. The practical difference is a page fetch, and whether a reader knows a fetch is required.
SVD's card is explicit about the redirection, which is more than some bespoke licences manage. What it saves a reader is discovering that a second document exists at all.
2Why a community tag reads as a permission
Names ending in community suggest research and hobby use with commercial terms handled elsewhere. Read as a grant, that is the most expensive misreading available in this column.
The Cosmos card removes the ambiguity in one sentence. It does not remove the conditions in the document, which still have to be read before weights are redistributed.
3Small models are where this matters most
A 2B release runs on modest hardware and gets picked up by people without legal support. The licence step is skipped exactly where the barrier to running is lowest.
A twenty-four billion parameter model needing eight data-centre cards gets read carefully, because somebody has to approve the cards.
